This often happens when you install a third party defragmenter like Diskeeper, then on uninstalling, it does not restore the built in one correctly. I'm heading out for a couple of hours anyway so I figured it would be no big deal to let this thing run. Restore the Windows Defragmenter (Windows XP / 2000 / 2003) I've seen on several computers where the built in Disk Defragmenter not longer runs correctly. Supposedly it's a one time thing, and then they suggest switching to their "Stealth" mode. They also warn that the COMPLETE/Access option is SLOW. There is a nice automated feature on V4 that scans every locked file and lets you click one button to add those files to the boot defrag option.
That doesn't include the time that will be necessary to execute the boot defrag, which will nail the swap file and some other system files. The O&O V4 is now up to 3 1/2 hours and counting to execute a COMPLETE/Access defrag.
But at least I am getting to see how the program works.

I won't purchase it unless they can tell me how to install it with the option I want. I have an email to their tech to get some clarification on that. I had a problem installing it on my system in the 'my user only' option of the install, but it installed ok using the 'any user' option. I've d/l'd both of them and am trying them to see how they work on my 80GB XP system.
